Education
I have been thinking about this a lot lately. The idea started with this – Human procreate, (other) animals do too. Humans have a penchant for tribes, animals do too. Moral this and that – even animals have altruism. That does not make someone human.
WHAT – IS – IT?
WHAT is it that makes us so… human? Why humanity appears to be succeeding (almost) everywhere and no other animal evencomes close to competing? Is it the bigger brain? If yes, how come Homo Sapiens is the only species which relies on this organ so much, while every other species relies on some other? Opposable thumbs – surely that will allow us to hold our tools better, but tools don't do every job! Even crabs use broken coconut shells as tools.
There… JUST… HAS TO BE something else.
And then I though about speaking. Or counting – basically logic and maths. But we have been able to teach other animals to count too. What else goes on then? And then it hit me! It is the ability to transfer that knowledge to next generation – it is the educational system stupid! That is what makes us human.
We are the only species which spend so much time learning and being taught to. If today we learn how to make a clock, tomorrow our kids will know that too! Time and time societies have faltered in the process and rescinded into savagery.
And this thought has been going on in my head for many days. Now I am able to understand why educations should be birth right. We are all born differently, some people are born idiots and some are born malicious. But we all should be able to use all that knowledge for our own good. Some people die of hunger and some people die of obesity. We all play our minor roles and do our insignificant shtick. But we must not be deprived of all that information which will help us do our jobs better, the job God or fate has assigned for us.
Education is indeed freedom. Education and freedom are actually the same thing.
