History of kashmir as I know it

Kashmir was one of the pinnacle of Hindu civilization as it existed before Islamic conquest, that must is indisputable fact. The problem with Kashmir was that one side was Tibetan plateau - world's highest desert, and another side was Hindukush mountains that lead to deserts of Afghanistan or to further deep into Tajikistan. The only place worthy of living was Punjab - the bountiful prosperous most arable land of 5 rivers.

So when Punjab started suffering from newly learned highly successful techniques of raiding and pillaging from Genghis Khan and his commanders and their families - techniques that were readily learned by people suffering in the barren lands of Afghanistan and beyond, Kashmir started feeling its effect. There was financial stress that wasn't there before in the so called "heaven on land". In this stress, the Nastik Buddhists who had peacefully displaced Vedic clerics among the masses, found themselves being surrounded by the theology that didn't eschew violence and promised group solidarity over individualistic pursuit of peace - Sufism.

The final nail in coffin came when the surrounding Hindu kings all fell and power transferred to the Buddhist monks who found themselves surrounded by newly converted Muslim populace that wouldn't tolerate rule by a Kafir. Advised by muslim ministers, Rinchan leaned more towards the newly inherited power than religion of his ancestors and converted to Islam. Later, as in the case of people who don't negotiate from the position of power, his death lead to the rule by Muslims.
